God sends Jeremiah to watch a Potter shaping clay on his wheel and tells him to let the people know that He, like the Potter, skillfully shapes them, sometimes using divine discipline. The message Jeremiah is to pass on is clear, turn away from idolatry and back to God or suffer the consequences. Jeremiah again finds himself between a rock and a hard place. Not surprisingly, the people didn’t receive the message well and threatened his life. Have you ever been warned repeatedly and then become angry at the person who delivered the warning? Have you been the person who does the warning and gets threatened?
