Jeremiah buys and breaks a clay jar into pieces as he tells the religious leaders that God will do the same thing to them because of their obstinacy. This prompts them to shackle and beat Jeremiah. After he is released, Jeremiah does not relent and delivers a message of judgment from God, but then he immediately turns around and complains to God about his circumstances.
