Throughout his life, Jeremiah warned the kings of Judah that they were on the way which led to death because they had abandoned God and neglected his covenant. Now, with the Babylonian army surrounding Jerusalem, Jeremiah speaks a hard word to Zedekiah, the current king of Judah. He says there is gonna be a consequence for how you’ve been living, but it doesn’t have to end in death. He calls the king to return to the justice and righteousness of God. The pursuit of this way of life actually gives life to others.
